About UsThe Beginning Experience programme is a process based on a weekend away to facilitate people passing through the grief of a loss from death, divorce or separation. There are so many people in our community who are struggling with very real and traumatic grief and so often, others who have never been in the same situation have no idea what they are going through. We at Beginning Experience, do understand, for each person within our group has been through a similar experience and we wish to reach out as peers to those who are hurting in this way. We offer an invitation to growth and the chance to find some of the peace they are looking for. We have seen so many people hurting from the pain of being single again, of not being understood, and of losing faith and trust in others and themselves. We have seen these same people knowing that everything that is shared is in absolute confidence, finish a weekend and subsequent follow-up programmes then start to look forward to a more hopeful and peaceful future. Often the transformation is quite remarkable. Beginning Experience Brisbane Team began in 1983. At the moment there are approximately twenty-five team members and a similar number who are members in our Auxiliary. All our members are volunteers. We have two BE weekends a year. The weekends usually are in March and August at QCCC (Queensland Conference and Camping Centre) at Brookfield, near Brisbane. For location details, please view map. Beginning Experience is associated with the Catholic Church, but is ecumenical in its outreach. All faiths are encouraged to participate. Our Brisbane members are of many different faiths. |
